Franck Ribery: The Jewel of French Football

There aren’t many that are known to be the jewel of French football, as that comes with a lot of responsibility. Along with that, with there being a multitude of amazing French footballers in history, it’s really something that people should take heed of. The man is known for his explosive energy, as well as being one of the best passers that the sport has ever seen. Of course, his teammates of Bayern Munich have really helped him along the way, although Ribery is a man that will excel at any level. Since his start in 2000, he has scored numerous amounts of goals, and invigorated his team to be a real contender in the sport.

Some of the most impressive elements about Ribery would have to be the honors that the man was presented with. He has won both French Player of the Year as well as German Player of the Year in the same year. Also, he won the French award the year prior to that. Of course, not everyone can win that award, and it’s something that’s very inspirational to the younger generation of footballers. Since playing with Bayern, he has really brought the club to prominence, and he will continue to be a threat to all that oppose him as the years go on and this footballer only gets better and better. His dazzling play is something that has to be seen, and there is the chance that he will continue to win many more honors with Munich.

Cristiano Ronaldo: The Most Expensive Player in Football History

Well, it’s not every day that someone is presented with a contract worth 80 million, in any sport. There is one man who can say that, and he goes by Ronaldo. Obviously, this would put him in elite company, and is regularly called the best footballer in history, and rightfully so, as Real Madrid paid quite a hefty sum for the player. In his professional career, the man has scored more than 100 goals in the years as he has been playing, and aggressively, as we might add. The striker is one that hasn’t regularly been stopped, and does not show that he plans to any time soon. Although he has been wildly successful, all of his efforts have not really come into fruition until last year, winning his first UEFA title in 2008.

Of course, we are not the only people that are saying that this man is the best in the world. There are quite a few people in agreenace, even with some of the most decorated people saying it as well. One of which would be Johnan Cryuff, who says that there really is no one that’s better than the man, Best and Law included. With someone like that saying that much of the man, he will continue to be someone that we love to watch, as he will continue to produce the results that we expect.

    Fernando Torres: El Nino

Many young footballers love to see this man play, and they hope that one day they’ll be mentioned alongside of the man Fernando Torres. Really, there are not many people who can actually say that they do not enjoy watching El Nino do some amazing things with the ball, something that he has built up quite a name for himself doing. Fernando Torres is something that’s genuinely special, and he really has to be seen to be believed. Since his first professional game in 2001, there have been very few that can say that they can get the better of the man who leads this powerful Liverpool attack.

There have been more than a few debates as to who the best player in the world is, and no one will scoff if Torres is mentioned, more often than not. In less than 10 years, he has changed the way that we think about the sport, breaking the record of how many goals are scored in a season set by Fowler in the 1995-96 season. The most interesting point about the man would have to be his start as a goalkeeper, and how we would view Liverpool if he never started as a striker. It’s something that’s a little hard to imagine, considering his success as one of the best strikers in the entire world.

It also doesn’t help having someone like Steven Gerrard on your team, either.

Before finding his new home at Real Madrid, he was making waves in his home country, learning the game and implementing advanced tactics to becoming the bane of many other footballers. At the age of 15, he signed his first professional contract with Sao Paulo FC, but soon outgrew the team and moved on to Milan where he scored an amazing 70 goals in the six years that he stayed.

Furthermore, the man battled one of the most threatening injuries that any human could ever endure: a spinal injury. Although he is overshadowed by some of the bigger and younger names, this man is still is an integral part of the club’s success. Since making his debut in the year of 1998, he has long been a reason why the Liverpool fans show up to the stadium, as he is one that is known to make the best out of every performance.

    The Legend Drogba

When people are thinking about one of the best footballers in the world, they will eventually mention Didier Drogba at least once or twice. The man became a pro footballer at the tender age of 18, and as soon as he joined a professional club, he quickly became one of the rising stars in the sport. Love him or hate him, one cannot deny the prowess that he shows on the field. He is one of the most accomplished in the game, period. For Chelsea, he is the 8th all time leading scorer for this powerhouse, and many have found him to be a saving grace more than a couple of times. Born in 1970, the Ivorian is known for his electrifying play, especially when it comes to the goals that he regularly scores.

When he moved to Chelsea, he set records before he even touched the ball donning the jersey. Signing to a tune of 24 million, he was expected to give the team what it needed in its center position. And the man has delivered, scoring more goals than any foreigner in the history of the club. What’s even more respectable about the man is the charity work that he is involved in as a Goodwill Ambassador, named so in 2007.

Of course, there are very many great footballers in the world, and there is a star born every year on the field, yet they have pretty big shoes to fill if they want to be compared to the living legend, Didier Drogba.
